EBC excellence reaps awards


Class Awards logoEBC's Chief Executive Barbara McClennan has notched up another accolade for her commitment to supporting people in learning and personal development.  Barbara's efforts in making learning inclusive for all was acknowledged in 2010 in the region's premier Class Awards.

Barbara was a finalist in the Lifetime Achiever of the awards - the region's biggest showcase of learning excellence.

The Class Awards took place ass part of a celebratory night at the Sage Gateshead when 1,200 guests enjoyed a feast of entertainment before the awards show with live music, a Chinese pole circus act and three aerialist performers.

The awards took place in a packed Hall one where five individuals and six companies were awarded with prestigious Class Awards. In addition to this, three individuals and three companies were awarded with regional apprenticeship awards, the winners of which will now go onto The National Apprenticeship Awards.

The awards celebrations interspersed with amazing North East talent which included performances by AKA, recently awarded three yes’s by Simon, Amanda and Piers in this years Britains Got Talent Auditions, Bre, an amazing vocalist from Middlesbrough, rock music from Creamy licks band from South Tyneside, Ami Vaziri’s fantastic performance of You got the Love, break dancing and hip hop moves from ANSD, faultless vocals from Leanne Tonks from Blyth and a mind blowing finale from The Sage Academy of Performing Arts.

North East Equyality Awards 2009 logoEBC was again recognised for its commitment to equal opportunities when its was a finalist in the North East Equality Awards organised by Equality North East - this time in the Work Life Balance Achievement category for employers with under 50 staff.

This is the third time EBC has been a finalist in these prestigious awards and the winners  and EBC's Chief Executive were at the glittering awards ceremony in Gateshead's Hilton Hotel to receive EBC's Certificate of Commendation.

IS0 9001 logoEBC has now gained its first national quality award with the securing of IS0 9001 certification.

Securing ISO 9001 registered firm status means EBC joins just 3 per cent of UK businesses who have earned the right to hold the internationally recognised award  for quality.

ISO 9001 is an international benchmark for quality and is recognised worldwide.  The prestigious award puts EBC at the forefront of quality service and customer care.

One NorthEast logoIn 2008 EBC was the runner up in the Best Voluntary Sector Website category of the first ever North East Digital Awards, sponsored by One NorthEast.

In 2007 EBC's Chief Executive, Barbara McClennan, was a finalist in the prestigous North East Social Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, organised by the Community Foundation and sponsored by leading law firm Ward Hadaway.

Gold Winner North East Tourism Awards 2006

One NorthEast logoIn 2006 EBC won the Ambassador of the Year Award category at the ONE NorthEast sponsored Regional Tourism Awards for our Exploring Tourism programme. This saw young people from the region promoting North East tourism to an audience of Dutch tourism experts.   The previous year EBC was a finalist in the Best Tourism Innovation category of the same awards for its innovative Work, Rest, Stay and Play programme.
