Tyne and Wear Infrastructure Consrtium logoEBC is proud to be a member of the Tyne and Wear Infrastructure Consortium (TWIC).

EBC's membership demonstrates our commitment to:

  • The third sector as a whole.
  • Partnership and consortia working.
  • The communities in which we work.
  • The people who benefit from the work of EBC and other third sector organisations.

Benefits of Partnerships

Big Lottery logoThank to our membership of TWIC EBC is now proud to be part of a partnership which is delivering a project funded through the Big Lottery's BASIS 2 programme.

Infrastructure services do vital work to help voluntary and community groups achieve their aims, through services such as training, providing information, representing community groups' interests, supporting networks and sharing good practice.

The BASIS 2 programme aims to ensure that voluntary and community organisations throughout England have access to high quality support that will help them be more effective.

EBC is one of several TWIC members delivering the Basis 2 funded Specialist Support Services which is being managed by VODA , North Tyneside's Voluntary Development Agency.

First Class Careers .....

EBC has paired up with PNE (formerly Project North East) to deliver the First Class Careers element of the Basis 2 funded project.  Together the two organisations are offering a range of qualifications to people working or volunteering in the third sector.

EBC’s level 2 qualifications recognise the efforts of people involved in working in their communities either through volunteering or through community development.

Valuing Volunteering offers the Level 2 Certificate in Volunteering, accredited by the national awarding body NCFE.  It is particularly suitable for those wishing to formalise and further develop their existing experience and skills.

Candidates are assessed in two mandatory areas:

  • Preparation and working as a volunteer

  • Personal skills development and team work for volunteers

Candidates do not need to have any formal qualifications to complete the qualification, but they must be working as volunteer in their community. Portfolios are built up by candidates through workshops and assignment work, supported by EBC’s assessment team.

Alternatively candidates may wish to secure City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Community Development through EBC’s Working in Your Community training programme.

The award is aimed at all people involved in communities – paid or unpaid.

The NVQ is specifically for people who have become active in their own community in either an assisting or supporting role to enable their community group to develop. Candidates are assessed in six areas, five of which are core.

Candidates do not need to have any formal qualifications to complete the NVQ, but they must be currently working in a community development setting – either in a paid or voluntary capacity as most of the assessment is done through observation and reflection.

Portfolios of evidence of the work done are built up by candidates, supported by EBC’s assessment team.

An overview of the TWIC

Tyne and Wear Infrastructure Consortium logoThe TWIC was created to support the infrastructure needs of the third sector across Tyne and Wear.  If you work for a third sector 'infrastructure' organisation (i.e. you don't deliver front line services yourself, but you support groups) TWIC can:

  • Represent your interests to public services.
  • Help you get funding.
  • Help you to provide a better quality and more efficent service.
  • Help you to communicate with the rest of the third sector across Tyne and Wear.
  • Help you to communicate and influence other important people across Tyne and Wear and the Nortrh East.

The aim of Tyne and Wear Infrastructure Consortium (TWIC) is to come up with solutions for a stronger third sector across Tyne and Wear embedding three key core priorities into all its work:

  • Quality
  • Reach
  • Influence
