EBC - Bringing languages to life
EBC is committed to helping young people realise the importance of developing good modern foreign language skills both during their school life and when they enter the world of work.
We have been able to deliver a range of exciting and innovative programmes and competitions to schools across the region thanks to ongoing support from the Regional Language Network North East.
Our latest is All Directions. You can find out more about this programme, and how you can get involved by visiting our All Directions competition page.
European entrepreneurship in action
Our Language of Enterprise competition saw regional schools designing and developing a prototype of a new food product using British ingredients - and create a plan to launch their product on the European market.
The Language of Enterprise was aimed at inspiring young people to study a modern foreign language while developing their enterprise and creativity skills.

Up for grabs were four cash prizes for schools to spend on language resources and trophies.

Marketing the region
The competition follows on from EBC's successful Language of Leisure in 2009 which saw school pupils challenged to work with a business supporter from the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector to develop a marketing campaign for their business supporter's organisation which promoted that business to international visitors.
The winning school received a cash prize to spend on resources for its language department. Winners were selected after showcasing their work at a regional event You can find out more about that competition by visiting our special Language of Leisure page
Other EBC language programmes
EBC also has a number of programmes designed to develop young people's modern foreign language and entrepreneurial skills through challenging, engagine and innovative activities - all with clear links to the National Curriculum.

These programmes are normally delivered over a single day and involve young people meeting people from the world of work who help build pupils' understanding of the importance of good language skills in the work place. The are currently available in French, German and Spanish.

For secondary school pupils we offer All Directions
For primary school pupils we offer First Directions
