EBC's competitions - a winning formula


In recent years EBC has become one of region's the leading organisations in delivering innovative, creative and challenging competitions for young people which motivate them to learn, develop new skills and gain an insight into the world of work, business and commerce whilst showing their creativity and entrepreneurial skills and flair.  This page gives you a brief overview of our successes.


All Directions regional schools language challenge

Regional Language Network North East logoThis is our latest partnership project with the Regional Language Network North East.

Around 1,000 year 10 pupils will gain an insight into the value of good modern foreign language skills as they enter the world of work

Community Leaders of the Future

Passionate About Community logoCommunity Leaders of the Future is an inter-school competition run by EBC for schools in the Sunderland area and builds on a growing number of successes for EBC in running motivating and educational competitions for young people which bring the world of work to life in an exciting and innovative way.

The Language of Enterprise

Our Place 2020

EBC played a key role in delivering a regional schools competition - Our Place 2020 designed to develop skills and knowledge in young  people of the issues surrounding sustainable communities.

English Partnerships logoOur Place 2020 was sponsored by English Partnerships and promoted by IGNITE which is supported by various key organisationsincluding One NorthEast and the Government Office for the North East.

Fly the Flag for the North East

Schools from across the region took part in our Fly the Flag for the North East competition when they were challenged to design a flag to fly from Cunard's world famous liner the QE2 on her first visit to the Port of Tyne which took place as part of her 40th anniversary tour.  To find out more use this link.


Passionate about education logoShowcasing Tourism

Showcasing Tourism saw schools from across Tyne and Wear competing to win business support for their school with ther aim of nurturing long term relationships between schools and businesses.

Pupils competed to make pitches to potential business partners ans sought work experience placements,visit to their schools, industrial visits, school prizes and teacher training. Find out more about by visiting Showcasing Tourism.


Passionate about busines success logo Exploring Tourism

EBC won the prestigious Tourism Ambassador of the Year Gold Award for its Exploring Tourism project which saw EBC working with around 300 young people from across the region. 

They were challenged to  promote North East tourism to a Dutch audience.  Fifty of the young people travelled to Holland to promote the region's attractions to a panel of Dutch tourism experts before returning home to promote Dutch tourism attractions to a North East audience of experts from the industry.
