EBC develops Polish teachers' and trainers' entrepreneurial skills

Passionate about enterprise logoEBC's Chief Executive Barbara McClennan has travelled to Poland to help Polish teachers and third sector trainers develop their skills in developing entrepreneurship skills in young people.

Barbara spent a week training 10 Polish teachers and third sector trainers on how to deliver a range of enterprise activities to young people as well as explaining how to get businesses involved in developing entrepreneurial skills in the classroom and in their project activities.

The training is being followed up with a study visit to the North East by the Polish trainees in April when they will see EBC and its business partners 'in action' delivering the innovative and creative enterprise and work related learning activities for which EBC is renowned for delivering to young people across the region.

Passionate about promoting the region logoBy May the Polish teachers and trainers hope to be able to deliver EBC's enterprise activities in their own schools and groups in Gdansk. Poland.  In June Barbara will travel to Poland again to carry out an evaluation of the project with the Polish teachers and the organisers of the pilot project - funded by the European Union.   If successful the project could be rolled out across the Pomorski region.

The project has been organised by the Gdansk-based RC Foundation  - the Regionalne Centrum Informacji i Wspomagania Organizacji Pozarzadowych.  The Foundation is a Regional Information and Support Centre for non-governmental organisations serving the Pomorski region of Poland.

EBC delivers enterprise activities throughout the year.  As part of its commitment to National Enterprise Week EBC designed a special programme - Enterprise Days.  You can find out more by clicking here.   You can also click onto our online calendar to see what else we are doing throughout the year.

Make Your Mark - the national campaign to unlock the enterprise potential of young people - launched the annual event, locally in conjunction with Regional Development Agency (RDA) One NorthEast.

In 2008 Enterprise Week coincided with Global Entrepreneurship Week, and the aim was to encourage not only young people realising their ideas, but making connections with other likeminded youngsters from across the world. Over 60 nations are participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Over 100 educators and agencies teamed up to promote Enterprise Week.

The North East's input was Launch Pad, the purpose-built vehicle that tours the region publicising the help available to enterprising young people.

Enterprise goes global

North East creative agency bgroup created a new campaign to celebrate National Enterprise Week 2008 and the launch of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The ‘Monsterpreneurs' campaign built upon the popularity of their previous ‘Anatomy of an Entrepreneur' campaign, www.anatomyofanentrepreneur.com, to develop a humorous new approach to recognising the special qualities of an entrepreneur.

The campaign is supported through the monsterpreneurs.thebgroup.co.uk website, where visitors can apply to receive a monster poster and play a special new virtual game to test your knowledge of enterprise vocabulary.

Go to monsterpreneurs.thebgroup.co.uk to sign up to receive a free ‘Monsterpreneurs' poster and play the online game to establish just how well you know your enterprising vocabulary.
