Safe, Sensible and Social projects

A range of free, downloadable resources focussing upon the dangers of alcohol misuse are now available on EBC's website thanks to funding from the NHS South of Tyne and Wear's Safe, Sensible, Social Small Grant scheme.
EBC has developed the resources with a number of groups across the area thanks to several successes in securing support from the NHS.
Working with members of South Hylton Youth North East group (SHY-NE) we've created a the script of a play - A Shot at Life - which you can download for use with your own groups. Just visit our Safe, Sensible, Social drama page
Members of SHY-NE wrote the play and were involved in all stages of its production and performance before an invited audiece. We've also included a downloadable fact sheet - Script Writing Tips.

Other resources now available include a downloadable board game, pictured here, which you can download by visiting our special Safe Sensible, Social board game page.
The game is a combination of traditional snakes and ladders, with players moving forward or back depending upon which square the land on and how they answer questions, and the Monopoly concept of penalty and bonus question cards.
Alcohol Misuse - the Reality by those who have suffered
To complement these resources there's a series of stark, powerful and simply stunning posters for you to download.
The posters highlight the dangers of alcohol misuse have been designed by people who have dealt with the issue themselves.
To go with the posters there are a number of other resources including personal testimonies and video interviews with people whose lives have suffered through alcohol misuse.
T view these resources visit our Safe, Sensible, Social posters and testimonies page.
EBC secured the funding from the Teaching Primary Care Trust after it launched a fund which aims to support innovative projects from third sector organisations designed to alleviate alcohol-related issues.
The Trust was keen to fund projects which could:
- Improve the health and well being of local people
- Increase services or activities for disadvantaged groups
- Improve the employment prospects, education or skills of local people affected by alcohol-related issues
- Tackle alcohol-related crime and improve community safety
You can read about one of the projects here, as featured in NECA newsletter
