To download a poster just click on your chosen image. This project was delivered by EBC thanks to funding from the NHS South of Tyne and Wear's Safe, Sensible, Social Small Grant scheme. They were produced by clients of the North East Council on Addictions (NECA) after EBC worked with Sunderland people who have issues with alcohol misuse. They were asked to design resources which could The project was designed to support more mainstream work that is available to people facing the results of alcohol misuse. In a fun, interactive way, and in a safe, friendly setting, this project saw EBC working with people who have battled with alcohol misuse. The aim was to create an online teaching resource pack that can be used to tackle alcohol issues in young people.
The pack offers posters, presentations and interviews created by the people we worked with. The resources look at the challenges they have faced, the hurdles they've overcome and the issues they are still tackling. Most importantly it is their words and their messages. The people we worked with also produced other resources which would be ideal for teachers to use in either discussion groups or as part of a project. Disturbing as she frankly charts her spiral into alcoholism and the destruction her addiction had on her family. Uplifting as she reflects on her challenging and painful recovery. Carole's story In Our Own Words Real life stories of how alcohol took over the lives of five people are retold by the people themselves in a haunting group interview called "In our own words". "In our own words" (You will need Windows Media Player to listen). Our Stories Two members of the group we worked with braved the cameras to reflect on their own, personal journies into alcoholism. EBC secured the funding from the Teaching Primary Care Trust after it launched a fund which aims to support innovative projects from third sector organisations designed to alleviate alcohol-related issues.
EBC partnered up with the North East Council on Addictions (NECA) to deliver its programme to NECA clients in Sunderland.
