Fly the Flag for the North East Competition
Fly the Flag for the North East saw EBC commissioned by the Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast, to run a competition in schools across the North East as part of the region's celebrations to mark the maiden visit to Tyneside by the world famous Cunard cruise liner, the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2)
The visit by the cruise liner was made as part of the ship's 40th Anniversary celebrations.
Young people were challenged to design a flag which depicted the North East. The winning design was flown from the QE2's mast throughout her two day visit to the region.
