Fly the Flag for the North East Competition
The visit by the cruise liner was made as part of the ship's 40th Anniversary celebrations. Young people were challenged to design a flag which depicted the North East. The winning design was flown from the QE2's mast throughout her two day visit to the region.

Fly the Flag for the North East saw EBC commissioned by the Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast, to run a competition in schools across the North East as part of the region's celebrations to mark the maiden visit to Tyneside by the world famous Cunard cruise liner, the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2)
